Artificial intelligence for businesses in Haugesund

Most businesses we talk to have been told they ought to "do something about AI", without anyone telling them what. We are based in Vormedal outside Haugesund and work with companies across Haugalandet and the rest of Rogaland that are asking the same question: is this for us, or is it mostly noise?

Local, and in English

We know the business community on Haugalandet and in Rogaland, and we know that an AI setup built for a corporation rarely fits a company with ten employees. We run projects in English throughout, which matters more here than people assume: a good deal of the industry around Haugesund already works in English every day. If you are nearby, we are happy to have the conversation over a coffee. If you are elsewhere in the country, we have it on screen.

What AI can actually do for an ordinary business

There is a wide gap between the headlines about artificial intelligence and what is useful in an ordinary working day. This is some of what we see delivering real effect:

  • No more moving data by hand. Information that is currently copied between forms, spreadsheets and email can often be pulled out and sorted automatically.
  • Faster answers to what repeats. Many enquiries are variations on the same few questions. They can be answered or drafted automatically, with a person approving.
  • Finding what you already know. Quotes, reports and documentation scattered across systems can be made searchable in a way that actually understands the question.
  • First drafts, not finished work. AI is good at getting started and unreliable as the last word. Used properly it saves time without taking over responsibility.

When AI is not the answer

We say so when we think AI is the wrong tool, and that happens more often than you might expect. If the problem is that the workflow is unclear, that the data is messy, or that nobody has decided who owns the process, AI will not fix it. What you get instead is an expensive way to automate a mess.

The advice we give most often is to start small: one task that repeats, that takes time, and where a mistake is not critical. If it works there, you can expand. If it does not, you found out cheaply.

Your data, and where it ends up

The first question we get is usually where the data goes. It is a good question. Some AI services send everything to an external provider; others can run on machines you control yourself. Which is right depends on how sensitive the content is, and we settle that concretely before anything starts, not afterwards. Where the processing falls under Norwegian and EU data protection rules, we enter into a data processing agreement.

How we work

We map what you actually do today before proposing anything at all. Then we point out where AI can make a difference and, just as importantly, where it cannot. You get a concrete proposal with scope and price before the work starts. You speak directly with the developer who builds the solution, not through an intermediary.

Frequently asked questions

Is our business too small to use AI?

Rarely. It is less about size than about how much repetitive work you have. A business with five employees spending several hours a week on the same form often has more to gain than a large company without a clear problem to solve.

Does our data have to leave the building for AI to work?

Not necessarily. Some solutions use external model services, others can run on machines you control yourself. We clarify exactly what is sent where before we build anything, and enter into a data processing agreement where that is required.

What does it cost to get started with AI?

It depends entirely on the task, but a first step is usually smaller than people expect. We recommend starting with one bounded task rather than a large project. Then you see the effect quickly and the risk is low. You get price and scope in writing before anything starts.
